DIY Pillow

I have been looking for pillows for my living room and man they are expensive!! I thought about sewing some but I didn’t think my skills were up to par. I went to Joann Fabrics and found some fabric I really like and thought with all these Pinterest pins about DIY Pillows I surely could make some myself. So I purchased 4.5 yards (no I didn’t know my pillow size but I guestimated). I found a super easy pattern that I want to share with you.

1. Cute your fabric 2″ wider than your pillow and for the length I doubled the length and added 10″. So my pillow was 18″ wide so I cute the fabric to 20″. The length of my pillow is 18″ so I cut the fabric at 46″. This gave me plenty of room to work with just in case my measurements were a little off :)

2. Fold the 2 short ends down 1″ and iron. I used Stitch Witch to hem my ends or you can also sew the ends.

3. Place the fabric print side up and place your pillow on the fabric. Fold the fabric over the pillow and pin the flaps together. Make sure your fabric is lined up.

4. Remove the pillow and pin the sides together making sure your fabric is lined up.

5. Once the fabric is pinned sew each side. Once sewn turn the pillowcase right side out.

6. Insert your pillow or pillow form into the pillowcase.

THAT’S IT!!! Once I got the hang of it the pillowcase only took about 10 minutes to complete. Not too bad and saved me some BIG money!
